Mixing Antibiotics with Alcohol: Is it Safe?


Mixing alcohol and medication can lead to serious side effects. Doctors suggest avoiding alcohol when taking several drugs.

Can I drink alcohol with antibiotics?

Although antibiotics aren’t less effective than alcohol, drinking too much of it can increase your chances of having side effects.

  • Cefoperazone
  • Cefotetan
  • Doxycycline
  • Erythromycin
  • Metronidazole
  • Tinidazole
  • Ketoconazole
  • Isoniazid

Combining alcohol and antibiotics can lead to potentially fatal reactions.
