What is aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy, a holistic healing method that relies on natural plant extracts to improve health and well-being, is known as aromatherapy. It’s also known as essential oil therapy. What has been aromatherapy around for?

The Persians are credited with the invention of essential oils distillation in the 10th Century, although the practice could have been used for many years before that. Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, a French perfumer/chemist, coined the term “aromatherapy” in a 1937 book on the subject. He had already discovered the healing properties of lavender for treating burns. This book discusses essential oils for medical conditions.
