Mini Tooth Implants Compare to Regular Tooth Implants

Mini Tooth Implants Compare to Regular Tooth Implants

Do you hide your smile because of unattractive gaps between your teeth on the front and back? Are your front teeth damaged or missing? If so, then Tooth Implants could be the only permanent solution to your dental miseries.

Tooth Implants are fake dental roots, typically composed of titanium (a metal that is well tolerated by our body) and are inserted in the jawbone to support a prosthetic tooth or bridge.

Implants can be used to repair any number of teeth. They can replace just one tooth or even an entire arch. It will allow you to restore your smile and let you talk, eat, and laugh again with confidence.

There are two kinds of implants that you should think about if you’re thinking of replacing your missing teeth. These are the Mini Tooth Implants and the traditional. Each kind is different in size and diameter.

Traditional Implant Devices

In the past 30 years implants have been utilized to replace missing teeth. Implants of this type are used to replace damaged or missing teeth, as well as multiple teeth the bridge or the complete denture. They also serve to keep dentures that are removable in the proper position. Endosteal (in the bone), Subperiosteal (in the bone) and Plate form are the main types of implants commonly used in implant dentistry today.

In this type of implantation a tiny screw is attached to the jaw bone by making an incision made within the gum tissue. After a couple of weeks, once the jawbone heals completely and implant is fused to bone, a dental crown will be loaded on the implant. This process results in a bright, new smile that feels and looks as natural teeth.

Mini Tooth Implants

Mini Tooth Implants can be used to replace teeth that are missing. They are mostly used to replace the front teeth, premolars, small teeth and teeth located within a small area.

This titanium screw in one piece has a head shaped like an oval with a ball at the top. The tiny titanium implant’s head is made by one O-ring of rubber that allows it to attach into the socket of the prosthetic tooth, or denture.

What is the real difference between regular and mini tooth implants?

A mini implant is significantly smaller than a standard implant. Mini Tooth Implants are typically smaller than traditional ones that have a diameter ranging from 1.8mm between 1.8mm and 2.9mm. Due to their small size, a MDI can be placed in locations in which there is significant bone loss.

A typical implant is made up of three components comprising a titanium material screw and the abutment. MDIs, on the other on the other hand, are a narrow body, single-piece titanium devices.

  • Regular screws tend to be hollow at the middle. The mini implant is a solid piece.
  • The mini implants protrude through the gums and just like traditional implants.

Implants are inserted regularly, and it is an invasive, time consuming procedure. The titanium screw, also known as a false root is first placed into the jawbone. After a period of healing of several days, the implant connects to bone. An abutment is fitted over the part of the implant, and a crown, the topmost part of the restoration, is then added. The entire process is completed in phases over a few months. Mini implants, however they are secured by drilling a tiny pilot hole through the jaw bone, which requires no incisions. The procedure is minimally invasive and can be done in less than 2 hours.

Mini Tooth implants are much cheaper than traditional implants. A mini Tooth Implant can cost as much as 60% less than a conventional one.
